If this ejects your CD-ROM drive tray, the button on the disc drive is defective, and we recommend the drive be replaced. If you are running Microsoft Windows, open My Computer, right-click the disc drive icon and choose the option to Eject. Programs used to burn CDs are a common culprit. If the tray can eject as it's booting but stops working after loading your operating system, something loading is preventing the drive tray from opening. If you are unsure, reboot the computer and as it is booting up, eject the tray.
Locking device or software installedįirst, verify no locking software is installed that prevents the tray from opening. Really just need to get that top cover off for the next step keep looking it over and working with it and you should be able to figure out how to remove it. The other gear in your picture I think is the one that lifts the disc spindle up and down, shouldn't be related to the tray problem. You may need to remove the front bezel first, should be some clips on the side holding it in place. The top cover should come off also, allowing you to remove the tray and align it in the proper position with the gear. I tried moving the gear with a screw driver but that really didn't do anything. Is the drive suppose to have power to it so the gears can initiate?. How am I suppose to fix the gears so the drive gets back on track. Anyway I looked inside, and then at the picture for reference and all I see is one white round gear, and another shaped gear that both have teeth on it. I was only able to remove the plate from the bottom of the drive, not the top. Rigby, I looked at the picture you posted.
